Earlier this month 11 of our Explorers completed an Emergency First Aid course as part of their training for the Young Leader’s scheme.
It’s the second time that we have run the course during this academic year with over 20 of our young people having now completed the course since September.
The 8 hour course covers vital first aid skills – from how to take, record and monitor vital signs, deal with an unconscious person and perform CPR – through to dealing with severe bleeding, treating shock, heart attacks, asthma attacks, hypothermia and heat stroke or helping someone who is choking or having an allergic reaction.
The course also counts towards Module K of the Young Leader’s scheme (for more on young leaders, check out the Young Leaders Modules page).
Congratulations to all of our Explorer Scouts who took part – they all passed with flying colours!
