About Us

Whitley Bay Explorers is part of the Scout organisation, although you don’t need to have been a Scout to join us! The group is open for all 14-18 year olds and we currently have over 160 members.

We offer a fun and varied programme of weekly activities across multiple nights and locations – everything from archery, climbing, cooking, table tennis, first aid, dancing, robotics and many more. We also regularly offer camps and residential experiences. There’s something for everyone and if there’s an activity you want, we’ll try our best to provide it where possible!

As part of our programme of adventurous activities, we offer our Explorer Scouts the opportunity to take part in and achieve their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. From volunteering, to physical activities, life skills to expeditions, The DofE Award scheme helps you to develop valuable skills that can help towards employment or applying to university or apprenticeships. Most Explorers choose to take part in the DofE Award Scheme however, it is optional and you can still take part in all of the activities without the need to join the scheme.
