It’s been a busy year for Whitley Bay Explorer Scouts – so we thought we’d try to capture our 2016 / 2017 year in numbers…!
150 young people aged 14-18 years old (approximately – we never have them all in the same place long enough to count!)
100+ Explorer Scouts have taken part in Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expeditions in 2017 to date
A total of 34 Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE expeditions (practice and assessed) since the start of the 2016 – 2017 year
20 Explorer Scouts completed first aid training courses over the last year
60+ Young Leaders volunteering their time with Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs and Scout Troops across the District
11 Explorer Scouts interviewed live on air during a visit to BBC Radio Newcastle
38 Explorer Scouts and 11 Leaders preparing to travel to Adelboden, Switzerland in August 2017
6 Young Leader belts awarded for successful completion of the Young Leader training scheme
4 Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awards achieved and 1 Queen’s Scout Award, the highest award for members of the Scout Association
Over 800 hours of scouting activities in the last year!
