Switzerland Day 10 – Toboggans & Oeschinensee

Written by Graham Oakes

Today we headed to Oeschinensee, the mountain lake at the top of the Kandersteg valley. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. After a brief, but scenic gondola journey up the mountain we stopped at the toboggan track and enjoyed a few high speed runs round the circuit.

A short walk later we arrived at the spectacular Oeschinen Lake and enjoyed a packed lunch with a view, and some of the best ice cream known to man (Explorers and leaders can confirm this!). After gorging ourselves with ice cream the explorers headed to the lake and explored the crystal clear waters by rowing boats.

Once safely back ashore we headed back to the bus and into Adelboden to chill out at the swimming pool and pick up food supplies. With such a full on day it was a late dinner of burgers, homemade potato wedges and salad before retiring to bed.

Some amazing views from inside the cable cars.

Walking to the lake.

An Explorer caught on camera mid-row.
