Today was the day at the adventure park, which meant early starts all round for a prompt departure at 9am. After a 45 minute walk across Adelboden we arrived at Adelboden Adventure park (aka Alpine Adventure School); a high ropes/zip-line/rock climbing centre. The explorers split into two groups with one group starting in the morning on outdoor rock climbing while the other groups were guided through the zip lines and high ropes course.
The zip lines consisted of flying through the air over a river on 12 different zip lines. After the zip lines you then got to the high ropes course which entailed many wobbly platforms and wire walks high above the ground. Finally you made it to the bridge where you had the option to jump off and have a rope descend you to the ground.
The rock climbing entailed multiple rope routes on the lower section of a cliff face. Before starting the main climbs we had a practise bouldering to get used to our specialized climbing shoes while also being taught correct hand and foot placement. We were then taught how to tie a figure 8 knot, attach ourselves to the rope and how to belay. The explorers climbed in groups of 3, with one person climbing, one belaying and one as a backup belay.
We finished at the adventure park at 5pm and walked back to the chalet. After an exquisite meal of bangers and mash it was soon time for bed as everyone was pretty tired after quite an adventurous day.
