Today was an early start as we left the chalet at 8.30am for our walk to the Adelboden Adventure Park. After arriving at the park at 9.30am, the explorers split into two groups with one group starting in the morning on outdoor rock climbing while the other group were guided through the zip lines and high ropes course.The groups swapped over at lunchtime so everyone got a chance to do all the activities.

 

The zip line activity consisted of flying through the air over a river on 14 different zip lines and some were even above a high level bridge. This seemed to be a very popular activity with many explorers returning on the zip wire course throughout the day.

After the zip lines explorers then got the opportunity to walk underneath the bridge on a high ropes course. This is not for the faint hearted as Chris, one of our leaders and an experienced climber came off the course with very wobbly legs and said it was the most exposed he’d ever felt! Finally, you made it to the top of the bridge where you had the option to jump off…and descend at various speeds to the ground.

Before starting the main outdoor rock climbing, the explorers got the opportunity learn climbing techniques using their climbing shoes and essential knots. They then had the option of 7 different routes up the cliff face working in a team of three with one climber, on belayer and one as a back up belayer. The highest climbs were up to a height of 15 meters.

All explorers finished a full day of activities at the adventure park which were thoroughly enjoyed by all! After a walk back to the chalet, it was time to prepare dinner of sweet and sour chicken followed by an amazing dessert of malteser mousse with strawberry coulis and a quenelle of chantilly cream made by one of our leader team, chef Simon Johnson. There was no left overs!
