Switzerland Day 9 – Trummelbach Falls, Interlaken and the Swiss Night

Written by Graham Oakes

Today involved a visit to Trummelbach falls, a town visit to Interlaken and a Swiss meal/entertainment evening, quite a packed day!

Leaving the chalet at 10am, we headed to Lauterbrunen to visit Trummelback Falls; an immense series of waterfalls with glacier water fed from the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains.

After eating lunch at the falls (and some explorers doing a spot of sunbathing) we got back on the coach to head towards Interlaken; a town between two lakes and surrounded by mountains on either side. The explorers spent the afternoon browsing the shops available in Interlaken before meeting at 6pm at the Casino for our Swiss evening.

Before heading in we took a group photo on the grass with the Jungfrau as the background.

The swiss night involved a meal (either chicken or cheese fondue) and entertainment in the form of yodelling, dance and swiss instrument playing. After demonstrations of all the instruments the explorers got to have their own turn playing as an ensemble. Everyone also got to have a go playing the Swiss Alpine Horn.

As the show came to a close, a room wide yodelling conga broke out, bringing to an end a truly memorable night of entertainment.

On the way home we listened to the the freshly purchased yodelling CD from the swiss night, allowing everyone on the coach to relive the songs of the evening. He He Heeeeeooo!!!
